This entry is going to have no real focus, since there are a few things I want to talk about.
First, I just really wanted to emphasize that I am doing this blog for fun. I am a copy editor, and I didn’t really want to hyper-focus on editing on my time away from work. So, this is just kind of a free-flow blog, saying whatever comes to mind. It’s fun for me that way, and that’s what I want.
Second, I heard from a friend who gave me a thumbs up on the blog, and I really needed that boost. My confidence in myself is kind of terrible, so it was great to hear that. (Although, just throwing this out there, as some of you are well aware, I do have a huge ego, so I’m not sure how those two seemingly contradictory things exist at the same time in my life. But, hey, I am who I am.)
Third, I remembered to weigh myself today, and I have lost 24 pounds! I am so excited. I plateaued (four vowels in a row, that word) at 20 pounds, and normally I just give up when I hit a plateau. I didn’t this time. I took some before photos of myself and looked at some photos of when I wasn’t a fat blob, and wow, I am just ugh. I know the whole “accept yourself as who you are” idea, and I was that way for awhile. But this is hurting my health — I have high blood pressure and my knees are crap — so I really need to get back to a good weight. I would really rather not say what I weigh now, but my basic goal is 160 pounds, and my fantasy goal is 140 pounds. I have not weighed 140 pounds since the first time I hit that in middle or high school.
Fourth — this is really, really random — as some of you know, I had to put my 17-year-old cat to sleep a couple weeks ago. I miss my sweet Leo. Well, the most random thing got me through it: A YouTube channel called Viva La Dirt League. They make these hilarious videos about a lot of random things. Their shows include “Epic NPC Man” and “Bored,” and they do joke skits about video games like PUBG and Escape from Tarkov. Sounds super nerdy, and they are. I just wanted to throw a shout-out to them because binging all their videos really helped me get through a tough time. So, check ’em out if you want some laughs.
Fifth, I am sitting here thinking, “OK, I KNOW there was something else I wanted to mention, but my brain is broken at the moment.” OH! I remember! Please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if there is something wrong with this site. I think I made all the links actually go to something and filled in all the blanks, but I just have no idea.
Have a safe Fourth of July!
(I am going to try to include a photo with each blog post, even if it has nothing to do with anything. The photo is of me with the computer I had just bought, the first one I’ve ever been able to buy straight out with no payment plan. It’s nothing fancy, but I really prefer a desktop over a laptop!)
